About

The Issue

There are over 27 Million petrol powered motor bikes in Africa, and each motorbike produces 2.16Kgs of CO2 equivalent per liter of petrol.  There is a lack of any proper recycling or repurposing program for old motorbikes. Petrol is also expensive and prices fluctuate frequently as it relies heavily on external factors.

For those who want to buy EV motorbikes, they are forced to charge or swap batteries  at stations owned by the companies who sold them the bikes.

Most motorbike taxi riders across Africa buy their motorbikes via lease to own model- however, once they complete paying, their bikes are old but they can’t take them anywhere – almost no value.
